Tamiya P-47D - by Mark Sullivan - Murrells Inlet, South Carolina
This is Tamiya's P-47D Thunderbolt I built using BaracudaCals sheet #48003. I generally shy away from doing natural metal finishes. I never seem to be able to get the finish to look the part, at least to my eye, but I really wanted to do "Schmaltzie", a bubbletop flown by Lt. F.J. Middleton, with the 57th FG, 65th FS, 12th Air Force, based in Southern Italy during the summer of 1944. One reason I chose to do "Schmaltzie" now was I was in the process of doing Tamiya's 1/32 P-51 in the marking's of John C. Meyer's "Petie 2nd", and figured while I was doing a NMF on that, I may as well get a couple more airframes done. Didn't add much else to the kit other than an Eduard seat harness and bombs from an Eduard Hellcat kit. For the natural metal finish I used Floquil Old and Bright Silver, as well as Model Master Aluminum.
